Ömer ALTAN, who came to our hospital's Neurology Clinic from Niğde with a complaint of numbness in his hands, was treated in a short time and regained his health.

Assoc. Prof. stated that Ömer ALTAN, who was referred from Niğde to the Neurology Clinic of our hospital after complaining of numbness in his hands, was treated in a short time and opened the blocked main vein. Dr. Gökhan ÖZDEMİR: “Our patient applied to us from Niğde province. After evaluating the patient, the physician friend there detected a serious stenosis in the large main vein feeding the brain. This is a situation that causes the patient to have a stroke. He reached us quickly and we, as the hospital, accepted the patient. Without delay, we intervened in the patient and opened his main vein. When one of the major arteries feeding the brain is blocked, 50-60 percent of people either die or remain disabled for life.

Conditions such as impaired speech, change in consciousness, loss of sensation, and imbalance may also occur in our patients. The most important thing in stroke is that when a person has a stroke, the necessary interventions must be made within the first few hours. This intervention will not only save the person's life, but will also save him from this lifelong disability. By performing these procedures in a short time, our patient's vein is opened and he can be saved from a situation that will affect his entire life. In order for the procedures to be carried out, the person must quickly go to the necessary centers.

Stroke is a group of diseases seen in all age groups. We see it more frequently after the age of 50 and 60. Because at this age, conditions such as hypertension, diabetes, high cholesterol and immobilization cause damage and cause more cerebral hemorrhage and vascular occlusion in this age group. The frequency of the disease also increases with this age group. However, we also see an increase in the young age group, which attracts our attention.” said.
