Audiology (Hearing Test) Unit
Audiology is the science that teaches the use of current scientific practices in the diagnosis, treatment and rehabilitation of hearing and balance disorders for the benefit of patients. Starting from hearing loss screening programs in newborns, the diagnosis and treatment of hearing loss that appears with advancing age is carried out in the Audiology Unit. Similarly, the diagnosis and treatment of dizziness and balance problems are also carried out in the Audiology Unit.
10 Audiometrists and 5 Audiologists work in our Audiology Unit. In addition, we have 3 audiometry rooms, 3 silent cabins, 4 tympanometry devices, 3 Clinical ABRs, 2 Scanning ABRs, 1 clinical otoacoustic emission and 1 VNG device in our clinic.
The tests performed in our Audiology (Hearing Test) Unit are as follows:
Audiometry (Hearing Test)
Audiometry; It is the name given to the hearing test that provides measurement of hearing and evaluation of hearing functions. After the examination, our patients can have the Hearing Test done on the same day if our Ear Nose and Throat Specialist Doctors deem it necessary.
Tympanometry Test
The Tympanometry Test is a simple, reliable and objective study used to evaluate the compatibility of the eardrum and middle ear. The eardrum is very important for middle ear function. The tympanometry test is used for pressure differences in the eardrum. After the examination, our patients can have the Tympanometry Test performed on the same day, if deemed necessary by our Ear Nose and Throat Specialist Doctors.
Scan ABR
Screening ABR, especially in children and infants, measures the auditory system's response to auditory stimulus with a test called Auditory Brainstem Response. Screening ABR, on the other hand, is done before the Clinical BERA (ABR) Test, giving us information about the hearing status. Although it does not provide as detailed information as the Clinical BERA (ABR) Test, it is a mandatory screening test that should be performed in the second stage. This test, which is not dependent on the patient's response, is performed while sleeping, and important information is obtained about the patient's hearing level and the ways of hearing at the brainstem level. The test status gives a pass/fail result. After the examination, our patients can have a Scan ABR performed on the same day when our Ear Nose and Throat Specialist Doctors deem it necessary.
Clinical BERA Test (ABR)
The BERA test is a painless procedure and is a method used to evaluate hearing functions. An Ear Nose and Throat Specialist Physician should first examine the person who has any hearing-related complaints. This test, which should then be applied by the Audiology Specialist, is a preferred procedure especially for hearing loss caused by problems in the brain pathways. Our patients are treated by appointment.
Preparation Before Clinical BERA (ABR) Test
The patient must be asleep during the examination. For this reason, it would be beneficial for people to stay awake for a while before the test.
· It is okay to eat a meal one or two hours before the test. But heavy foods and overeating are not suitable.
· It will be useful to take a bath on the day of the test or the day before.
· Please arrive 30 minutes before the appointment time.
· The test takes approximately 60 minutes.
· If the person does not sleep at the specified times during the test period, the test cannot be performed.
VNG Test
The VNG Test is a method used to measure involuntary eye movements. In this method, eye movements are recorded on the computer with high-tech devices that process video images, analyzed and their properties are reported in detail. Compared to previous systems, it measures involuntary eye movements much more precisely, completely and accurately, and does not harm the patient.
The VNG Test makes very important contributions to distinguishing the diseases that cause dizziness and balance disorders from each other and making the correct diagnosis.
Test; takes about 1 hour. Our patients are treated by appointment.
Rhinomanometry Test
Rhinomanometry Test; It is a technique of measuring nasal airway resistance. Rhinomanometry Test is a test that allows us to measure nasal airway resistance and volume and provides information about dynamic changes in the nasal airway. It is an easy-to-apply and safe procedure performed while the patient is awake and sitting. It is used to investigate the level of nasal congestion and possible causes of congestion. After the examination, our patients can have the Rhinomanometry Test performed on the same day, if deemed necessary by our Ear Nose and Throat Specialist Doctors.
