Deputy Chief Physician, Specialist Dr. Ms. Semra ARIBAŞ warned the elderly, children and people with chronic illnesses, against sun or heat stroke, not to go outside during the hours when the temperature reaches high levels.

Especially in the summer months, there are cases of sunstroke due to the high temperature and average humidity. Sunstroke, which can affect individuals of all ages, including children and infants, manifests itself with symptoms such as high fever, nausea, vomiting and loss of consciousness.

Although sunstroke is seen in every age group, some age ranges are in the risk group. Sunstroke cases are more common in children under the age of 4 and individuals over the age of 65. At the same time; Those with chronic diseases, those affected by obesity, especially pregnant women, should not go out in extremely hot weather unless they have to.

For Protection from Heat Shock;

  • Prefer light, comfortable, light-colored clothes that are suitable for seasonal conditions, do not sweat.
  • Apply sunscreen at least half an hour before going out in the sun.
  • Drink water.

Outdoor workers are more prone to dehydration and heat-related illnesses. Suggestions for protection from extreme heat for those working outdoors;

  • Drink water frequently while working.
  • Do not drink alcoholic and excessively sugary drinks.
  • Move to a cool place when you feel faint or sluggish.

Food poisoning increases especially in summer months.

  • Avoid the consumption of food sold outside and in the open.
  • Do not leave perishable foods (meat, eggs, milk, fish, etc.) open.
  • Take care to comply with the cleaning rules during the preparation and cooking of foods.

In Case of Sun or Heat Stroke;

  • The person should be taken to a cool, air-flowing place immediately.
  • Tight clothing should be loosened.
  • Try to cool it with cold water or coolers (such as fans, air conditioners).
  • If she is unconscious, liquid should not be given to her to drink.
  • It should be taken to the nearest health facility.
