Our Provincial Health Director, Prof. Dr. Mehmet KOÇ visited the Stroke Center, which provides services within our hospital, and made examinations. Emphasizing that by racing against time in the Stroke (Paralysis) Center, the negativities that may arise due to the blockage in the cerebral vessels are prevented, Prof. Dr. KOÇ said that "the center has been serving effectively since the day it was opened".
Mr. Prof. Dr. KOÇ stated that "in the center, which is equipped with the latest technological devices and where Specialized Neurology Physicians work, vascular occlusions that occur due to occlusion or bleeding in the cerebral vessels, which can sometimes even lead to death, are successfully treated."
Pointing out that failure to intervene in vascular occlusions in a timely manner has vital consequences, Prof. Dr. KOÇ thanked all healthcare professionals working at the center, saying, “Our center, which offers treatment to patients with stroke and who are at risk of being paralyzed all their lives, heals many patients coming from both our Konya and outside of Konya.”
Stroke Center Specialist, Interventional Neurology Specialist Assoc. Dr. Gökhan ÖZDEMİR said that “stroke is a very important public health problem”. Reminding that cerebrovascular diseases are the first among the causes of permanent paralysis (stroke) and the second among the causes of death in the world and in our country, Dr. ÖZDEMİR said, “The blood flow to the brain may be interrupted due to the narrowing of the blood vessels or the formation of clots. Lack of adequate blood flow affects brain tissue and can cause paralysis. If this blockage is not treated quickly, death or permanent paralysis may occur. Especially the first few hours are extremely important and critical for these patients. With an early and correct intervention, these patients can continue their normal lives by avoiding death or paralysis. For this reason, our Stroke Center undertakes an extremely vital task 24/7.” said.
Stating that they intervened in hundreds of patients who were in a very bad condition in the stroke center, Assoc. Dr. ÖZDEMİR added that “Patients are brought to the Stroke Center of our hospital from many cities within the region such as Karaman and Aksaray and from many cities outside the region such as İzmir and Kastamonu.”
During the Stroke Center examinations, Prof. Dr. To KOÇ, Head of Public Hospitals Services, Prof. Dr. Mehmet Ali ERYILMAZ, Vice President Mr. Dr. Mustafa PARLAYICI, Chief Physician of our Hospital, Dr. Faculty Member Oğuzhan GÜNENC and hospital management accompanied them.
